Northwest Tech’s Engineering Technology program hosted their annual advisory committee meeting and interview days on February 8th and 9th. Over the two days, 15 individuals representing 12 companies were in attendance. Companies present were; TSH Engineering, HDR, Wilson & Company, Martin/Martin, FHU Engineering, Aztec Consultants, Atkins Global, Atwell, Figg Bridge, Redland, CH2M/Jacob Engineering, and EBH & Associates.
During this event, these individuals spoke to current students about the benefits of coming through the Engineering Technology program, discussed with the program instructors on how to improve the program, and interviewed students for full-time positions and summer internship opportunities. “This is always a great event for our students to see just how many employment opportunities they have coming through this program,” says, program instructor Michael Zimmerman. “Every year we consistently see more jobs available than the number of graduating students in our program. This means two things, the engineering technology industry is growing, and companies in this industry want graduates from Northwest Tech.” With over two months until graduation, three students have already accepted jobs, and more will be accepting positions in the near future.
The Engineering Technology program at Northwest Tech is a two-year program that prepares students for employment as a CAD Technician, Designer, Drafter, Surveying Technician, or Construction Inspector. Areas of instruction are in Civil Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Computer Aided Drafting, and related mathematics.
