Goodland, KS. (04/26/2018) – Northwest Tech’s annual Sixth Grade Day was held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. An estimated 450+ elementary students from surrounding area schools experienced several potential technical careers of their choice and got the opportunity to experience a hands-on activity.
The day of fun and learning on campus involved Northwest Tech students, faculty and staff who volunteered their time to inspire children to pursue secondary education and experience technical career options.
Sixth Grade Day has provided elementary students from regional schools a chance to experience college life and envision themselves achieving success in higher education for several decades. Many current students and Northwest Tech Alumni remember their trip to the college in sixth grade.
“Student interests regularly develop at an early age,” said Northwest Tech President, Ben Schears, “Giving these students the opportunity to be exposed to different career paths at a young age creates interest. Interest leads to greater learning, and that’s our main goal here.”
