Northwest Tech Scholarships
The Presidential Scholarship Application is open to any 2nd year students (must have completed two consecutive full-time (12+hours) semesters at NWKTC) with a GPA of 4.0 for both semesters.
The applications will be narrowed down to four (4) and be scored based on their answers. The top scorer will receive $5000, 2nd place will receive $2500, 3rd place will receive $1500, followed by $1000 for the 4th place score.
In the event that first and second place scores tie, the $10,000 will be split between the first & second highest scorers. No third or fourth places will be awarded.
Applications are due on or before June 15, 2018
In order to be considered for scholarships, you must currently be accepted as a Northwest Tech student. If you are not, please visit our website to apply and submit your application fee. To ensure consideration for funding for the 2018-2019 academic year please submit your application by the priority deadline, April 1, 2018.
Applicant must rank in the top 35% of class or score 21 or higher on ACT or 980 or higher on SAT. If currently enrolled at a tech school, a minimum 2.5 GPA is required. Applicants parents or guardian or the student (himself/herself) must be a customer of Black Hills Energy. They may be a residential customer or the owner or operator of a commercial or industrial account. Relatives of employees and retired employees from Black Hills Energy may not apply.
Dane Hansen Vocational Scholarship
Awards made available to high school seniors in North- west Kansas who seek educational opportunities in a vocational program.
Career Technical Workforce Grant
Preference will be given to students with financial need, and awards will be based on enrollment in programs that are high cost, high demand or critical industry fields.
Collision Repair Education Foundation
Awarded to those who are seeking to develop sought-after skills and earn a good living in a trade that rewards hard work and passion.
Worldstudio AIGA Scholarship
Worldstudio Foundation, in conjunction with AIGA, the professional association for design, provides scholarships to minority and economically disadvantaged students who are studying design and arts disciplines in colleges and universities in the United States.
Carla M. Yahne Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Carla M. Yahne. Must be a graduating Great Bend High School Senior. Must be a female with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Chester Crane Memorial Scholarship
Must be a Larned HS graduate, must attend a Kansas college. Preference given to those with financial need.
Mingenback Family Scholarship
The Mingenback family created a scholarship fund for aspiring health practitioners, which encourages personal and professional commitment to the community.
Paul J. Urban created a scholarship fund for Great Bend seniors. Must have financial need & be a full time student.
Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation
The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is the nation’s oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships to military children. Founded in 1962 by Gen. Martin F. Rockmore USMC (Ret.), the Scholarship Foundation has provided more than 33,000 scholarships valued at nearly $90,000,000 since that time.
For the third year in a row, the mikeroweWORKS Foundation’s Work Ethic Scholarship Program announces another pile of free money available for an education to learn a skilled trade. This program rewards people with a passion to get trained for a skill that is in demand.
Ladies Auxiliary VFW
The Ladies Auxiliary VFW is pleased to present scholarships to assist members who wish to further their education by pursuing a college degree or career direction at technical school. Spouse, daughter, and son of a member are also eligible to apply.

For graduating Kansas high-school seniors planning to attend any Kansas college.
KC Blind All-Stars Foundation
The Gwendolyne Hawley Trust Scholarship Award Program is designed to assist deserving post-secondary students who are blind or visually impaired with their education. Students are selected for wards based on a variety of factors that indicate their high potential to make our investment in their future a worthwhile venture.
The mission of Study.com is to make education accessible, and this is done in part by offering these academic scholarships. We also produce original lessons that students can use as study aids, and articles to help students learn more about majors and career options.
AWS Foundation: Praxair International Scholarship
The purpose for the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals demonstrating his/her leadership abilities, and interested in pursuing a career in welding engineering or welding engineering technology.
Russ Babb Memorial Scholarship
The Kansas Respiratory Society is formed to: Educate, advocate, and promote the profession and practice of Respiratory Care.
Bickle Family Foundation Scholarship
The scholarship is available to all students majoring in Respiratory Therapy.
Off-Campus Part Time Job
Goodland businesses hire Northwest Tech students for part-time work. Jobs may be from 5 – 30 hours per week. It is recommended you put in job applications several weeks prior to your starting date.
WIA: Work Investment Act
Applicants must meet financial guidelines established by WIA. Students must apply for assistance before beginning classes. Call WIA Representatives: 785-462-6862
Service, Education and Re-Training Corp
May pay tuition, books and/or supplies. Assistance is available for students who are 19 years of age and have been employed in agriculture in the last two years. Contact Goodland SER office: 785.890.3300
